2012 Transit of Venus

Images I took from one of the rarest astronomical events in the world: the transit of Venus across the sun in June 2012. These transits occur in pairs, eight years apart, and the next pair will take place in 2117 and 2125!
My very first glimpse of the so-called Transit of Venus in June 2012. About half an hour after sunrise the sun suddenly majestically appeared from the thick clouds over Southern England and I could witness the final stages of Venus transiting directly between the sun and earth. These transits are among the rarest predictable astronomical phenomena and generally occur every 243 years.
